Night & Day

Marianne by Dezo Hoffman:
“Brian was living with Linda, the loving mother of one of his many children. He seemed to have become almost settled, almost content.

Until the foxiest blonde I had ever seen arrived in London.

Her name was Anita Pallenberg and no one ever seemed to know quite where she came from or who she was. When pressed, she would reveal that she was half Italian and half German and that she had worked as an actress with the Living Theater. She had only to walk along the street to cause a string of traffic accidents. She had tumbling, shining blonde hair, a long, lithe body and wickedly beautiful cat’s eyes. She was no dumb blonde, either, and the combination of witty conversation and devastating looks rapidly turned her into the darling of aristocratic London."

"If Anita was as alluring and mysterious as night, Marianne Faithfull was as blithe and pure as a midsummer’s day. She was perhaps even more beautiful than Anita. Her body was slender, frail as a blade of grass. But it was the woman’s face that was singular – it was the face of an angel, with its big, blue, innocent eyes, soft, pouting lips and a frame of blonde hair that glowed like the sun with youth and health. It was a face that stopped all talk whenever she entered any gathering of people – a face that subjugated all men to her will.”

Wonder whether they were ever envious of each other: Marianne of Anita's dark sexiness - intimidating, yet attractive, and Anita of Marianne's vulnerability - makes you want to protect her :)
Some of these pictures - of Marianne wearing a black top and a white-ish scarf - are from a TV interview, right? I've seen a bit where she talks how she met ALO (she makes the funniest faces)- Leith, do you know if there's more of that interview?

Love your site! Greetings from Czech R.

Great pics! I've always thought that early photos of these gals like these should've been used in anti-heroin campaigns. Well done!
