Happy Birthday, Patti Smith!

Happy Birthday, Patti Smith (just a day younger than Marianne, she is 63)!  Patti is one of my favorite female rock stars.  She's brilliant, hilarious, and totally unique.  Her version of Dylan's "Changing Of The Guards" from her 2007 covers album, Twelve, is one of my top five favorite songs EVER recorded - seriously, listen to it.  It's amazing.  Patti could hang with the best of them, and while she had her own songwriting talent and made it as an iconic singer, she was such a fangirl at heart, which is something I've always found so compelling.  She loved the Stones, and wrote poetry about Anita and Marianne.

I wish I had more of my old Hit Paraders, Creems, and Circus' laying around, but the ten or so I had at the office gave me these pictures of '70s Patti.  Enjoy!

So, someone came at me and accused me of stealing your pics and not crediting you. But I told you I was using them AND I thanked you before I even put them up (it's on tumblr, you know, that place where someone was stealing your pics for their fuckyeah sites - I reported them and someone else had said they reported them too) but since you can only really post pictures one at a time, it doesn't say on every single pic that it's from you. But I DID thank you in advance. Also, I use a lot of your Keith pictures on another one, but there is a permanent thank you note on that one, which everyone sees when they read it cuz it's at the top. Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that I never want you to think I' taking your amazing pictures and not crediting you, because I do give credit when I take them. You do such a good job and I love your blog too much to not acknowledge it. So yeah, I wanted you to know this in case someone tries to tell you I stole them.

Thanks so much for working so hard and providing the world with some truly amazing photos.
And one last thing: I love Patti, yet another fantastic post!

Thanks for the Patti Smith post. She's amazing! The female Keith.

Skyrocket, you should check out my photo sites - http://anitapallenberg.multiply.com and http://minimadmodmuses.multiply.com

Full of photos of the women who inspired the men. I don't mind when people use the photos, as long as they give credit or link back. It is a labor of love, afterall.

Smith is one of my favorite rock star, Smith has been a great source of inspiration for Michael Stipe of R.E.M. Listening to her album Horses when he was 15 made a huge impact on him; I love this album called Early Morning Dream
